Prof. Dr Matej Lipoglavšek

Senior Research Associate, Head of Nuclear Astrophysics LaboratoryE-mail: Tel: +38614773493

Prof. Lipoglavšek is particularly interested in studying nuclear reactions important for astrophysics. In stars, nuclear reactions happen at low energies, at which the presence of atomic electrons significantly influences reaction rates. This effect is called electron screening. Since the year 2006 prof. Lipoglavšek has been studying electron screening in nuclear reactions. He collaborates with scientists from INFN – Laboratori Nazinali del Sud, Italy, HZDR, Germany and University of Sczeczin, Poland, having similar research interests. He is a member of the NUSTAR collaboration at FAIR facility in Darmstadt, Germany. In the field of radioecology, he is involved in emergency response in cases of radiological emergencies, as the head of ELMU a specialized unit of Slovene Civil Protection.
