Update on JSI Ion Accelerator Upgrade

The second timelapse shows the insertion of the segmented-electrode acceleration tube into the main JSI ion-accelerator tank during the upgrade.

The Upgrade of the IJS Ion Accelerator is Underway

The only research accelerator in Slovenia is being upgraded. With the new 3-MV accelerator unit, the Tandetron will provide a 50% higher voltage, opening up entirely new research areas. The installation is proceeding according to plan, the old components have already been removed, and researchers will begin using the upgraded accelerator at the beginning of 2026.
