Outstanding Recognition - The Ecological Laboratory with Mobile Unit (ELME) is this year’s recipient of the Civil Protection statuette

Yesterday, the main ceremony for Civil Protection Day was held at Brdo pri Kranju, where awards were presented for selfless assistance in times of disaster. This year, the highest award – the Civil Protection statuette – was granted to the Ecological Laboratory with Mobile Unit (ELME), led by Assist. Prof. Dr Miha Mihovilovič. The award recognizes lifetime achievement, special merit, and outstanding accomplishments in the field of protection against natural and other disasters. On behalf of the Institute, the award was accepted by its director, Prof. Dr Leon Cizelj.

This recognition confirms our many years of dedicated effort and responsible work within Slovenia’s protection and rescue system. At the same time, it demonstrates that we remain on the right path – professional, connected, and ready to help when it is needed most.

The central national ceremony marking Civil Protection Day took place yesterday at the Congress Centre Brdo pri Kranju. The highest national award in the field of protection against natural and other disasters, the Civil Protection statuette, was presented to the Ecological Laboratory with Mobile Unit.

The Accelerator Is Now Officially commissioned

Testing of the accelerator components has been completed and the system has been handed over to the F2 team. After the final works are completed, additional radiation monitoring by SVPIS will follow, and regular measurements are expected in approximately two weeks.

The tests show exceptional stability

Testing of the accelerator is proceeding successfully; operation is stable and in line with expectations. By the end of the week, the handover of operation to our team is planned, followed in the coming weeks by a transition to prototype mode with a gradual start of regular measurements. The official opening of the new accelerator is scheduled for the end of March during the Jožef Stefan Days.
