Article in ACS Nano

Prof. Dr Primož Pelicon, together with colleagues from the Jožef Stefan Institute (Dr. Rok Podlipec, Dr. Luka Pirker, Ana Krišelj) and the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf, has published an article on new approaches in advanced high-resolution correlative microscopy for investigating the interaction mechanisms between harmful nanoparticles and lung epithelium.
In the study, they used complementary optical, ion, and electron microscopy techniques on the same samples to analyze the relationships between the structural and functional properties of the cellular response to TiO₂ nanoparticles and their biological consequences. The developed experimental approach provides a solid foundation for future research into the initial mechanisms of nanoparticle toxicity in biological systems at the nanoscale.
The article is one of the outcomes of the CROSSING project.
