Invitation to Visit the New Accelerator as Part of the Jožef Stefan Institute Open Days

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the general public is warmly invited to visit the new ion accelerator. The accelerator is the central part of the Microanalytical Centre, located within the Reactor Centre Podgorica complex at Brinje 40, Dol pri Ljubljani.

Visitors will be able to see the 3 MV Tandetron ion accelerator up close and experience firsthand how it is pushing the boundaries of scientific research within the Microanalytical Centre. The new accelerator increases the available voltage by 50%. This opens up more possibilities not only for physics, but also for fusion research, materials science, biology, medicine, and archaeometry. Such equipment expands the scope for a wide range of interdisciplinary research.

The accelerator is the central part of the Microanalytical Centre, located within the Reactor Centre Podgorica complex at Brinje 40, Dol pri Ljubljani. Admission is free and no prior registration is required. Visitors are kindly asked to strictly follow the safety instructions provided by the Jožef Stefan Institute staff, especially laboratory personnel. For safety reasons, independent movement around the Institute’s laboratories is not permitted, so please remain with your group at all times. Photography is not allowed.

Schedule of one-hour presentations: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, and 13:30

It is also possible to arrive by bus departing from the Institute’s main building on Jamova Street.
