The Accelerator Is Now Officially commissioned

Testing of the accelerator components has now been completed, and last Friday a handover document was signed with the manufacturer’s representative, officially transferring the system to the F2 team. Three beamlines have already been aligned and fully tested, while two (PIXE and the microbeam) still require some fine alignment. In addition, several other system components are currently being tuned. After these tasks are completed, and prior to the start of regular operation, additional monitoring of possible radiation (X-ray, gamma, and neutron) by SVPIS is planned, which is expected to take place next week. Consequently, regular measurements are anticipated in approximately two weeks.

The tests show exceptional stability

Testing of the accelerator is proceeding successfully; operation is stable and in line with expectations. By the end of the week, the handover of operation to our team is planned, followed in the coming weeks by a transition to prototype mode with a gradual start of regular measurements. The official opening of the new accelerator is scheduled for the end of March during the Jožef Stefan Days.

Colleagues from the F2 department have developed and tested a novel fully electrostatic detector capable of measuring the complete six-dimensional phase space of low-energy ion beams with high precision.
