Slovenian FAIR Day

14.11.2022

On behalf of the Department of Low and Medium Energy Physics (F2) JSI, we invite you to the Slovenian FAIR day, which will take place on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Hotel Slon. FAIR Scientific director Paolo Giubellino and Tomaž Boh from Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Gregor Majdič from UL, Boštjan Zalar from JSI and representatives of Institute of Chemistry, UP and UM will present the project and the possibilities of cooperation. The purpose of the FAIR National Day is to learn more about this project, the event is targeted to researchers from Slovenian research institutes and universities, to examine possible areas of cooperation, which are diverse, as research is also taking place in the field of new technologies in the field of accelerators, detectors, electronics and high-performance computing. The event will take place in hybrid mode.

FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) will be a "space within a laboratory", a laboratory where matter that normally exists only in the depths of space will be produced and researched. Its construction is progressing rapidly, at the current accelerator facilities of GSI the. "Phase 0" is already under way. It is dedicated to the immediate scientific application of the new detector systems, the implementation of an attractive physics program, and the education and training of the next generation of scientists and engineers for FAIR. Research is also carried out in the field of new technologies in the field of accelerators, detectors, electronics and high-performance computers. These technologies will enable cutting-edge research in the fields of nuclear structure, astrophysics, hadron physics and fundamental antiproton beam physics, compressed nuclear matter physics, plasma physics, atomic physics, materials research and biomedical applications.
