Annual meeting of the FAIR Administration and Finance Committee

Together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, JSI will organize a meeting of the FAIR Administration and Finance Committee in Ljubljana at the beginning of October (7th - 9th). The Center for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR) was established by several countries and is one of the largest basic research projects in the world. FAIR's scientific coordinator for Slovenia and IJS is a colleague of our department, dr. Jelena Vesić, who is also the main engine of the organization. The meeting will take place in the Eurostars uHotel on Miklošičeva cesta, in addition to the committee members, high representatives of our and foreign ministries, the director of the JSI and the administrative and technical directors of GSI/FAIR Darmstadt will attend as well.

Details of the extremely successful testing of advanced detectors at the accelerator in Cologne

At the end of October, the F2 department staff participated in the test of the HISPEC-10 detector setup at the 10MV tandem accelerator of the Institute for Nuclear Physics IKP (German: Institut für Kernphysik) at the University of Cologne.

The IAEA workshop successfully conducted

The IAEA workshop at the MIC premises was very effective. Advanced training of young researchers on ion beam analysis techniques and their applied use took place both theoretically and practically.

Analyzes of Binding Forms of Calcium in Wheat Grains

At the XRF beamline of the Elettra synchrotron the analyzes of calcium binding forms in wheat grains containing different concentrations of calcium was performed. The binding forms affect the level of calcium bioavailability from wheat flour and wheat products.
