Extensive collaboration, including Dr Jelena Vesić and Gregor Košir from our department, published the results of the first "FAIR-0" experiment with the DESPEC experimental setup at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). The measurements pointed out that the decay times of the lower excited states of the ruthenium isotope (Ru-94) show good agreement with the standard shell model, while the 4⁺ state behaves differently. Why this is important and the reasons for this peculiarity are described in the article.
